How Laser Gum Therapy Works
Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy, or LAPT, is a minimally invasive method of treating gum disease that offers a wide range of benefits as compared to traditional periodontal surgery. The laser specifically targets inflamed, infected tissues, quickly eradicating disease while leaving healthy tissue untouched. This, in turn, facilitates the healing process while diminishing patient discomfort. Gum pockets are fully decontaminated as the laser increases blood flow within the tissue to generate gum reattachment.
With LAPT, patients are no longer subjected to periodontal surgery with a scalpel, and there is no need for sutures. Recovery time is shortened, allowing you to return to your normal activities sooner and more comfortably. In addition, laser therapy actively delays the recolonization of bacteria within the gums, allowing ample time for healthy tissue to form.
As one of the few dentists in Houston to own a dental laser, Dr. Choudhury is dedicated to providing modern dental treatment to his patients.
