Our office is a digital (paperless) dental office with computers in each operatory. All x-rays and charting are recorded with the aid of a computer. The computer uses consistent charting methods that are accurate and precise, making it easy to read your dental chart and see up-to-date information. This technology allows us to cut down on unnecessary paperwork, securely share information with your other healthcare providers, and be more “green”.
Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of x-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged helping the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems easier. Digital x-rays reduce radiation 80-90% compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental x-rays.
HD Intraoral Camera
Dr. Choudhury is one of the few periodontists in Houston that uses high-resolution cameras to capture digital images of your teeth and gums to help you clearly see your situation. With this advanced technology we can zoom in on small diseased areas, cracks, and other areas of concern with extreme precision. These full-color images are sent to a computer screen so we can clearly see and diagnose any dental problems much earlier than with traditional technology. You will also be able to see areas being worked on and are able to gain a better understanding of dental procedures being performed.
Cone Beam, CT Scan, and 3-D Computer-Guided Implant Surgery
Computer-guided implant surgery represents a giant step forward in the replacement of teeth with dental implants. With Computerized-Tomography (CT) scan techniques and 3-D imaging, we can now visualize the placement of dental implants in three dimensions. This eliminates the guesswork involved determining what parts of the jawbone offer the best sites for dental implant placement. This provides greater patient satisfaction and simplifies the dental implant treatment process.
The FDA has approved the use of lasers for many dental procedures including those discussed on our website. A laser is a device that uses light energy to perform work. Lasers are unique because they can treat targeted tissue while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected. It is this property among others that allows our Houston periodontics team team to perform very precise procedures. In addition lasers may seal off blood vessels and nerve endings during a procedure lessening bleeding, postoperative pain and swelling. Owning a laser demonstrates that Dr. Eric Choudhury has made a financial and educational investment toward providing the very best care possible . Only a small percentage of dental offices in Texas have made this financial and personal investment for the well being and comfort of their patients.
Magnification and Illumination
Dentistry requires attention to detail. The use of magnification provides increased image size which allows our doctors to visualize things not otherwise perceptible to the naked eye. Magnification not only improves the quality of care provided to patients, but also expands the range of treatments that can be offered. The brilliant illumination allows a clear field of view for increased precision, improved diagnosis, and improved dental care.
